Robert Simpson was also a Burgess, we Maces weren't apprenticed to any old Tom, thingy or Harry!!! And you omitted that Francis appears to have been a ladies man as his children were born of two ladies and only one was wed to him. Jill

Looking at your tree on GR, you haven't got Jane Sandford death date. You may have it elsewhere, but anyway, it was 6 April 1802, aged 53.
As for the ladies' man bit ... I only have him staying at Elizabeth Greensel house for the night. Are there any more sorties? Strangely though, I also have the mother of James Mace b. 1781 as being an Elizabeth also. Again, in those scribbles in the margin from the Archives in Berwick, I noted "mistake possibly - next entry in register is also for an Elizabeth ... perhaps confused!"
The same Charles' brother William, full name William Marshall Mace.

No, you weren't confused I told he was a ladies' man. Maybe James' mother Elizabeth was Elizabeth Greensel too. I think he had an open invitation to her humble abode. As for William Marshall Mace, bearing in mind his mother was Francis' wife Jane maybe the Marshall is her maiden name and not Sandford. I'll look into it. Jill
